SECURITY POLICIES

One of the initial rules of operating an In-Home Childcare facility is safety first.  No one is ever permitted to enter my home during business hours without prior planning and notification to all parents.  This includes family, friends, salesmen, visitors, etc.  My policies regarding people coming to my home during business hours are quite strict.  I do not allow anyone to come into my home while I am caring for children unless I have met them first.  My present parents feel a great sense of comfort and security with my policy as I am sure you would with the care of your child.

If someone other than the parents are picking up their child they must be on the list authorized to do so, the parents must notify me ahead of time, and the authorized person must show a State issued picture id.

HEALTH PROCEDURE

  1. Children with severe cold symptoms, fever over 100 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea, or obvious illness must be kept at home.
  2. Children are to be kept at home for at least 24 hours after temperature is normal.
A note from the pediatrician is required for all communicable diseases before returning your child to my home.  Please refer to the communicable disease list on my wall or if you would like a copy please let me know.
  3. Children with diarrhea symptoms must be kept at home until the child has had 2 to 3 normal bowel movements. (Usually 24 hours after first normal bowel movement)
  4. Arrangements to pick up a sick child must be made within 1 hour from the time I notify you or your alternative emergency contact.
  5. Medications or treatments may be given at my discretion and only with the signed medications form by you authorizing me to do so.
  6. Prescriptions must have the child’s name and dosage requirements on the label.

MEALS AND SNACKS

All meals and snacks consist of a variety of fresh fruits, fresh/frozen vegetables, meats, dairy, and grains.  The children in my care eat very well everyday and they love to eat at Ms. Amy’s house!  Meal and snack times can be found on the schedule posted on my wall.  If your child needs a special diet you will need to bring in anything special that he/she needs to eat/drink.  A menu of daily meals and snacks will be posted on the wall everyday.

EDUCATION

I use the High Reach Curriculum program to educate your children every day.  Each month is a new lesson plan and you will get papers and things sent home each month for parent involvement to extend home what your children are doing everyday at school.  No curriculum during Summer break.  Please see the enclosed flyer explaining what High Reach is all about.  If you have any questions please let me know.

SCHEDULE

I have a schedule that I follow every day.  We eat, play, sleep, go outside, and learn at or around the same time every day.  The children in my care thrive and depend on this schedule…they know what to expect everyday and they need that consistency.  I start infants on a schedule around 4 to 5 months of age.  I have an open door policy, but I would appreciate you not coming during nap/quiet time.  This time is important for the children to have some quiet/rest time because we have a very busy schedule during the day.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

At anytime during the day I welcome any parent to stop by.  My doors will usually be locked for safety reasons, but you are always welcome to call or stop by anytime to check on your little one.

CLEANING PROCEDURES

All of the toys are washed in a bleach water solution every Friday after I close.  All sheets are washed every Friday as well unless soiled in that case they are changed immediately.  Vacuum is passed every night and toys are wiped with Lysol wipes and sprayed with Lysol nightly.  Toys that have been placed in the used toy bin are washed nightly with bleach/water solution.

DAILY NOTES HOME

A report will be sent home every day for your child with the following information:

What your child ate during meal and snack times.
How many diapers were changed b.m. or wet.
Some of the daily activities we did during the day.
If potty training applies a log of potty time.
Boo-boos or accidents, your child will be under constant supervision by me or my substitute at all times and I will do everything in my control to make sure no boo-boos happen at all, but if a boo-boo does occur you will be notified immediately if serious and at pick up time if it is not serious and a accident report will be filled out and need to be signed by the parent and myself. A copy will be given to parent and original will be kept in your child’s enrollment folder.
Anything that you need to bring in(diapers, change of clothes, etc.).
Nap times.
Anything else I need to communicate with you for the day.
